What it actually means:
These are each country's climate action plans- submitted under the Paris Agreement—that outline how they plan to cut emissions and adapt to climate impacts.
Why it matters:
NDCs are the backbone of global climate action. The more ambitious they are, the better shot we have at staying below 1.5°C. But many current plans are still too weak. That’s why COP30 is a big deal: it’s when countries must submit upgraded NDCs for 2035.
