THE JARGON DECODER
Decoding complex policy terms into plain English so you can focus on making an impact.

📌 Term: Climate Colonialism

What it actually means:
When wealthier nations continue to shape global climate solutions in ways that benefit themselves-often at the expense of poorer, climate-vulnerable countries. It’s the modern echo of old power structures: those who polluted the most keep control over decisions, funding, and technologies, while those most affected by the crisis have little say.

Example:
When a Global North company builds large renewable projects in Africa but owns all the profits, or when developing countries are pressured into taking expensive climate loans instead of receiving grants, that’s climate colonialism in action.
