What it actually means:  
Every five years, countries pause and take a hard look at how we’re doing on climate progress. That’s the Global Stocktake-a collective check-in under the Paris Agreement. It asks: Are we on track to meet climate goals? What needs to change? Who’s lagging behind?

Why it matters:
The GST isn't just a report-it’s a wake-up call. It fuels pressure on countries to raise their ambition and close gaps in their climate plans (NDCs). It also guides finance flows, tech support, and adaptation efforts where they’re needed most.
