THE JARGON DECODER
Decoding complex policy terms into plain English so you can focus on making an impact.

📌 Term: (Scope 3 Emissions)
A company's indirect emissions from suppliers, employees commuting, and customers using their products. The hardest to measure, and often the largest share.

Example: When you buy a new iPhone, Apple's Scope 3 emissions include the coal burned in a Chinese factory to mine lithium for your battery, the cargo ship that transported it, and eventually, the energy you use to charge it every night for the next 4 years. Apple's Scope 3 makes up over 70% of their total emissions, yet it's the part they have the least direct control over.
